Description
K-Sport upgrade kits larger rear discs do not only improve the appearance of your rear brake system, they also increase the rear brake power by enlarging the lever of the caliper. The bigger diameter of the disc results in a higher rotation speed which increases the cooling effect and the higher mass of the disc reduces its temperature when energy warm up the steel during a brake event. This is the perfect product for all people that did purchase a K-Sport front brake system and don?t want to spend the same money for the read end of their car but are looking for an upgrade that helps to keep the brake balance correct.
The rear brake disc upgrade kit for the
FORD Focuscontains new two-piece brake discs with a center section made from light AL6061 T6 aluminum and friction rings with a larger diameter compared to the standard brake disc but with the same width to still fit the OE rear caliper. With the help of the also included caliper mounting brackets the rear caliper is poisoned in the correct position on the disc with larger diameter.
This upgrade kit is not only cheaper compared to a full rear brake system because it still uses the OE caliper, it also remains the OE handbrake function! This solves one of the problems of these days when vehicle manufacturers integrate the handbrake in the calipers and not leave it as a drum brake in the inside of the read disc. This saves parts for the manufacturers and increases their profit, but it makes it more complicated for brake system manufacturers to offer rear brake systems with a multi-piston rear caliper that comes with and additional handbrake function. The rear disc upgrade kits go around that problem by still using the OE caliper: The handbrake will stay as it is, no matter if it works with a handbrake cable or with an electric motor.
The installation is as simple as changing the OE rear discs. Not even the brake system needs to be bleeded because there is no need to disconnect the caliper from the brake lines.
The discs are always two-piece with an anodized center section made from light and strong AL6061 T6 aircraft aluminum. That does not only look as the two-piece discs on the full K-Sport brake systems, it?s also lightweight and does not need to be replaced when the friction ring is at the end of its lifetime. The 350mm discs and bigger come with floating connections, which means that the center section and the disc have floating bushings and no fixed screw connections. Both can vary their diameter to each other so there won?t be any tension within the disc-compound when the friction ring heats up and the center section stays cool.
As our complete K-Sport brake systems, the brake discs of our rear upgrade kits are available in a drilled and a slotted version. The surface of the disc is zinc plated which prevents rust also on all areas that are not touched by the brake pad.
IMPORTANT: Prior to your purchase please check whether your standard rear disc is solid or vented and choose the same version for your desired rear brake disc upgrade kit. Your rear caliper is made for a certain width of the disc and cannot carry a disc that is wider than that.
